News from the farm
Hello and welcome to our farm blog. Here, you can keep up to date with all the goings on at the farm. Any comments and suggestions are always much appreciated.

We have had some amazing comments back since we started selling our beef a month ago, things are going really well. I've finally managed to taste some and its wonderful, its a strong beefy taste, so tender and juicy. It tastes like beef is meant to. I think its easy to forget what proper meat looks and tastes like, its wonderful to know exactly where your meat comes from, the field it grew up in and the hay its fed on.

Last Thursday our bull, Ludlow came to stay for a couple of months, he really is enormous but quite gentle. He has been the father to our herd for quite a few years now, he always produces solid, good looking calves (see meet the herd section).

The herd are all settling down now after giving birth and getting used to being mothers again.
We are hand feeding two littlies this year, their mothers had bad mastitis, so we took on the role. The little boy is called Bruno and the girl,Sofia. After a very shaky start, Bruno has become a monster calf and spends most of his day chasing the cows and sometimes me round the fields, Sofia is quieter but very pretty.

Sabrina, our big Charolais cow is getting back on her feet having had an infection after having her horns removed, having a calf really took her mind off her bad headache! One thing we really have notice this year, and probably so have our neighbours, that the dexters maybe the smallest cattle ever but they are without a doubt the loudest.

We now have all our hay in, thank goodness before all the rain came, its normally a rush and this year was no different! My lovely tractor has seen better days (see the website for some pics) its leaking oil badly and might need be to looked at, its a very loyal machine and has seen us through some tough winters.

We hope you enjoy our blog and our fantastic new website, get in touch with us soon with your order.
