Exciting times of late, we have more and more Longhorns to make our herd more traditional and English/rare. The latest are about 700kg each..huge!!
The most exciting event that has happened recently has to be a the introduction of my newest and most fabulous butcher. I will be taking lessons properly and learn from a true master. He has 22 yrs experience and is a truly traditional butcher, absolutely perfect, im extremely excited about this new adventure!
The website will be changing slightly to accommodate the more traditional aspect. All the names of the cuts will be the old fashioned names, I will however have the more modern ones in small print..just incase it gets too confusing!
Orders have been coming in thick and fast..im taking lots of orders for Christmas so if you are thinking of having the best Christmas lunch ever....order now!
Very very importantly we passed our FABBL inspection with flying colours and now are officially a FABBL farm, for those not in the know, FABBL stands for Farm Assured British Beef and Lamb..it means as a farmer more paperwork but more importantly that the consumer can rest safely in the knowledge the beef you are eating is top top quality and that the animals have had the best life possible, always look out for the mark, its either an oval with a gate in it or a tractor- red f in its side with blue wheels. Im a very happy lady now we are all official.
Quick get your order in now
Its been completely manic recently, since a newspaper article came out, people have not stopped calling and buying our fantastic beef which is excellent.
One of the Longhorns left us today to meet his maker....Something im not really getting used to.
The ferral calf that went missing for the whole winter is now back and looking very well indeed, makes me wonder what on earth it ate throughout a rough winter and spring!
We have just started using a new feed which working really well, its very important to get protein levels etc right and make sure your herd is as well as possible. We had a FABBL inspection on Monday and passed with flying colours which was a huge relief and made all the hard work worth it.
Im seriously looking forward to tasting the longhorns...I have it on very good authority that they are absolutely amazing.
Im stocking our local farm shop now www.peterleymanorfarm.co.uk which is working out very well, most people presumed the fine beef company came from there anyway, the beef is literally flying off the shelves.
I am now in partnership with a local farmer having set up a meeting with him yesterday, so I can now supply my lucky customers with fantastic local pork and lamb, couldn't be better!
I should be taking delivery of some White Park cattle in the next month or so, in time for Christmas so there will be a mixture of home grown and nearly home grown rare breeds for Christmas lunch. Get your orders in asap , no more boring turkey!
Anyway had better go and get my deliveries finished, will update soon
